Senior specialist in Systems Engineering
Primary activity was the definition of best practice Systems Engineering capability for Rolls-Royce, and supporting the recruitment, training and development of Systems Engineers.

- Various Defence and Civil nuclear projects, including the RR Nuclear Small Modular Reactor (SMR) concept
Acted as company skill owner for Systems engineering and defined and coordinated activities across company to improve and embed Systems Engineering capability - with target to 'make Systems Engineering the way Rolls-Royce does Engineering'.
Head of Function for Systems Engineering and Program Management - so led the team of Assistant Chief Engineers and (technical) Work Package Owners across the Bristol Defence Aerospace Projects
Focus on whole engine design, and integration of Physical and Functional (engine performance) activities
Involvement / Activities outside Rolls-Royce
A working group set up to I identify and explore the challenges and solutions associated with embedding Systems Engineering into an organization associated with engineered products / services, that wants to gain value from the application of Systems Engineering.
Director for 2022-24, and Deputy Director 2020-22, on main INCOSE Board of Directors. Services covered:
- Events - achievements included initiating the Systems Exchange Virtual cafes, and accountability for events, which included first virtual IS and IW in 2020/21, and then move to hybrid events after
- Education and Training - primary activity was establishment of the INCOSE Professional Development Portal, and the start of an INCOSE Mentoring Service
- Certification - the INCOSE SE certification activity – ASEP, CSEP and ESEP
Immediate past president 2016-2018, President 2014- 2016, President-Elect 2012-14
I had been involved in issue 3 of the INCOSE UK chapter competency framework previously, and was involved in international working group expanding / improving (and internationalising) the competency framework - I was a lead author (one of 5) on the framework documents issues in July 2018
